Believe it or not, Indonesia–especially Jakarta–has been a well-known base of WordPress. From ordinary users to theme designers to plugin developers, you name it.

How can we become such a great WordPress community? Well, meet these great WordPress warriors. And, really, they are all Indonesians!

Valent Mustamin

We can now call him an Indonesian WordPress Father. He is the one brain behind WordCamp Indonesia 2009 and WordCamp Indonesia 2010. Though we have not seen much of his work as WordPress plugins and themes, without this “WordPress forever in my heart” guy, we might not have seen (and come to) those biggest gatherings of WordPress enthusiasts in Indonesia.
Hold your glasses high, Folks. Salute for Valent Mustamin!

Firman Firdaus (Daustralala)

Just dig a hole in the backyard and bury your head inside if you have never heard Daustralala.
Yep. This is the one and only Daustralala, whose WordPress themes design has won various theme contests. His name and themes have also been listed over and over again on SmashingMagazine, WooThemes, KreativeThemes and ColorlabsProject.

Armono Wibowo (Mono)

Winning WordPress theme contests on WooThemes might have built a solid portfolio for this guy, but what makes true pride of him is NotSoGeeky. It is the one and only Indonesian podcast site, where he has interviewed many web celebrities as Gun Suk Ling (Kaspersky Lab), Michael Smith (Yahoo! Developer Network) and–of course–Matt Mullenweg. Not so geeky, eh? Yeah. Rite.

Pitra Satvika

He is one among few Indonesian WordPress developer who builds and founded IntipSelebriti. He also owns Media-Ide.BajingLoncat. E-Narcism, Twitter/Plurk and F-Marketing are few titles among his published books. Oh yes, he is productive! Who would have thought so few years ago when he started his own entrepreneurship with almost nothing?

Fikri Rasyid

Girls, feast your eyes. Here is the youngest and cutest Indonesian WordPress warrior with no less talent. Running Bloggingly where he shares blogging tips and tricks, he has created the well-known JurusGrafis. He slices, he integrate to WP… Oh, have I mentioned that he is available? *KYAAA*

Andra Yogi

WordPress is GPL, thus WordPress themes should be GPL. Fortunately for you freebie lovers, this kind of thought stays like forever in this guy’s mind. He LOVES to share his lovely designed WordPress themes for FREE.
Oh, stop by his portfolio page. You’d be surprised to see who he’s been working with. *Hint: my fave band!

Nurudin Jauhari

With more than 100 free WordPress themes he has shared, you can say that he loves WordPress. And by looking at their names, oh yes, he loves Indonesia indeed. Cool choices to brand Indonesia as one of greatest WordPress bases. Way to go, warrior!

Gabriel Hutagalung

Partnering with his brother, Michael Jubel Hutagalung, he founded ColorlabsProject, the first Indonesian WordPress premium theme developer.

Have you ever heard Arthemia? You sure have. It is in fact one of internationally famous Indonesian-made WordPress themes. Too bad Michael could not attend WordCamp Indonesia 2010 since he has been studying in London. We just can’t get enough of these two, can we?

However, sadly to say…

Didats Triadi

He has shared plenty of WordPress free themes. He also created IE 6 Alert, a plugin for IE 6 haters (well, who doesn’t?).

Pupung Budi Purnama

WordPress themes of his have been listed on SmashingMagazine. He also founded WordsPop and DesignMagz.

Deni Sri Supriyono

The one and only Indonesian WordPress warrior whose name can be seen on CSSZenGarden. He owns DisplayInline and TokoPas.

Thomas Arie

A Jogjakarta native, he contributes plenty of WordPress free themes. He also founded OrangeScale and AsiaBlogging.
